Mr Douglas So, appointed Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters [fr]
Mr Douglas So, founder of the F11 Foto Museum, was awarded the insignia of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters ("Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres") by the Consul General of France, Mr Alexandre Giorgini, during a ceremony at the Residence of France on 02 November 2021.
After 15 years of service with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Mr Douglas So decided to devote himself to his passion for art photography by creating a new unique museum in Hong Kong: the F11 Foto Museum. A great Francophile, Mr. Douglas So has always given a major place to French culture in the annual programming of his museum for the French May Arts Festival. In this context, he produced large-scale exhibitions dedicated to the great names of French photography: Bruno Barbey (2015), Jacques Henri Lartigue (2017) or Ilse Bing (2020).
Being today recognised as one of the leading specialists in photography in Asia, Mr. Douglas So is also a passionate and expert on heritage, a subject on which he has partnered with the Consulate to co-organise the first Heritage Days in Hong Kong in 2020.
By bestowing upon him the insignia of Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, the Consul General of France, Mr Alexandre Giorgini, paid tribute to the talent and dedication of Mr Douglas So for the promotion of French culture in Hong Kong and in Asia.
