Who this program is aimed at?
The program is aimed at foreign artists from all around the world who wish to pursue a research project in Paris during a minimum period of three consecutive months.

What are the conditions?

The Institut français in Paris provides artists with a studio/apartment at the Cité internationale des arts. The French foreign cultural network as well as French and foreign cultural organizations (theaters, art centers, cultural venues -public institutions- associations, multidisciplinary laboratories) must be able to cover the living and/or travel expenses for the laureates.
Depending on the project of the artist and the cultural organization, which is the partner, the residency can take place between Paris and another city. It is also possible to propose a residency which starts in Paris and continues in another city of France.

Which disciplines?
This program is aimed at artists in every artistic discipline: Architecture/landscape/urbanism, street arts/circus/puppets, digital arts, visual arts, comics, cinema/movies/video, curating projects, dance/performances, design, literature, youth book, fine arts and crafts, modern music and jazz, classical and contemporary music, contemporary art performances, photography, theatre.

Who can apply? :
Candidates must:
- Be committed in the professional life;
- Speak French or English; - Provide proof of previous artistic work;
- Be independent to organize their residency on their own once in Paris
- Be available (without any professional obligations) during the residency
- Get funding by the French foreign cultural network or by a French or foreign cultural organization for living and travel expenses.
There is no age limit.

Detailed presentation of the program:
Since 2015 the Institut français and the Ministry of Culture and Communication, along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, have decided to unify their respective residencies programs at the Cité internationale des arts. The Institut français has doubled its accommodation capacity and accepts a wider range of disciplines. The program enhances projects of artists that are already in touch with French potential partners: such as art centres, cultural venues (public institutions and centres), companies, but also individuals: artists, curators, critics, researchers or any other art expert. These partners (organizations or individuals) will act as advisor, mediator and manager of the laureate during the residency.

This enlarged residency program aims at:
- Increasing the visibility of the residency call for applications with a unique program dedicated to foreign artists and professionals;
- Strengthening relationships with the international cultural network thanks to this new unified initiative;
- Stimulating the professional coaching with cultural organizations in France and abroad to build partnerships and cooperation projects during and after the residency;
- Diversifying artistic disciplines.
