French students visited Lai Sun Correctional Institution [fr]

A group of 25 students visited Lai Sun Correctional Institution through the Rehabilitation Pioneer Project of Hong Kong Correctional Services Department on June 7, 2013

The French International School has attached great importance to disseminate anti-drug messages in school.

On preventive education, the Attaché of Police in French Consulate invited Hong Kong Police and Hong Kong Correctional Services Department to provide drug education talks and activities for school in May. To foster the healthy growth and development of the youth, a group of 25 students visited Lai Sun Correctional Institution through the Rehabilitation Pioneer Project of Hong Kong Correctional Services Department on June 7, 2013.

The project aims to disseminate anti-drug messages to adolescents and promote positive values. Officers of Correctional Services provided a guided tour to various vocational training workshops and presented different rehabilitative services for inmates. Besides, students were arranged to encounter with inmates to know more about correctional facilities and life of persons in custody.

To facilitate the healthy development of the youth, and helping them to resist the temptation of drugs and other undesirable behaviours, students were arranged to visit Hei Ling Chau Green Haven Scheme Resource Centre. Students were given an overview on functions of the resource centre. The exhibits in the resource centre show common type of psychotropic substances and the harmful consequences of taking drugs.

Mr. Jean-Christophe Marten-Perolin, Attaché of Police in the French Consulate thanked the enormous support of the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department for organising the visit. He said the French Police Liaison Desk will work closely with Hong Kong Police and Correctional Services Department and enhance communications with school, parents and teachers to nip the problem in the bud.

Ms. Chung Mo-yi, Manager of ’Rehabilitation Pioneer Project’ presented facilities in the Green Haven Resource Centre and mentioned the purposes of visiting Lai Sun Correctional Institution.
