Dominique Chasset, Knight of L’Ordre National du Mérite
Mrs Dominique Chasset, received the decoration of Knight of l’Ordre National du Mérite by the Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, Jean Pierre Thébault. The ceremony took place on March, 9th at the Residence of France.
Dominique Chasset started her career as a French assistant in England, before becoming a teacher in Australia, Thailand, Japan and in Hong-Kong.
She arrived in Hong-Kong in 1984, then she founded and directed with her husband Christian, the institute of language “the Modern French”, specialized in the teaching of French language. It was one of the first French teaching private Institute in Hong-Kong.
This institute became, thereafter, “Hong-Kong Institute of Languages” teaching French, English, Spanish, German, Mandarin, Cantonese and Japanese language.
Mrs. Chasset also works for French people in Hong-Kong. Member of the Union of the French from Abroad (UFE) since 1991, she has been Chairman of the association since 2005.
Underlining the brilliant work of Mrs. Chasset and her contribution to the French community of Hong-Kong, the Consul General , Jean Pierre Thébault, recalled the important role of the associative sector abroad and solidarity in its crisis time.
