What’s behind the doors of a research lab? Visit of French International School students at HKU-Pasteur Research Pole [fr]
The 10th grade high school students of the French International School of Hong Kong benefit from an "exploratory teaching module" to help them with the choice of their future curriculum. This module includes visits to discover professional work environments.
On April 6 and 13, 2016, HKU-Pasteur Research Pole was pleased to open its doors to some of them accompanied by their Biology & Geology teacher, Martial Jaume, former postdoctoral fellow at HKU-PRP.
Dr. Suki Lee, principal investigator at HKU-PRP and her team organized the 2-hour visit. After some explanations about the organization of the Pole, its research topics, its position within the Institut Pasteur International Network, its involvement in teaching programs, the students were introduced to the world of viruses. They also had the chance to enter the lab facilities to observe cell culturing and fluorescent staining of cells to spot the different organelles. The visit ended with a Q&A session about the work of a researcher.
