Visitor (more than 90 days) [fr]

It is mandatory to obtain an appointment online to apply for a visa. Application time slots are between 8:30 and 12:30 from Monday to Friday.

On scheduled interview, applicants must come in person with their passport and all original documents, with a complete set of photocopies. The Consulate won’t do any photocopies and it won’t be possible to complete your application later.

All documents submitted to the visa department have to be written in French or English. If not, they have to be accompanied by a certified translation.

Please pay close attention to the list of required documents. An incomplete application leads to the visa being refused. Application fees are non-refundable.

NOTE: A long stay visitor visa may be issued to applicants who cannot apply for another kind of visa and who are able to live on their own resources during the whole stay, without working in France. In any case, the Consulate will inform you if you are applying for the correct visa, according to your situation.

This visa is also intended for accompanying spouse and children under 18 years old of : students, interns, researcher/scientists or workers, provided their financial resources are sufficient.

Documents required (in this order):

- 2 long-stay visa application forms duly completed and signed (available to download or at the Consulate General)
- 2 colour ID photographs, passport size with white background (35x45mm) (example)
- Valid passport (more than 3 months after the return from the trip) + 1 copy of the identity page
- 1 copy of the Hong Kong and / or Macau ID card
- 1 copy of the Hong Kong and / or Macau visa valid for 1 month after the return from the trip
- 1 motivation letter explaining the purpose of your stay in France

If you are accompanying your spouse/parent, holder of a student, intern, researcher/scientist or worker visa:
- 1 copy of your marriage/birth certificate
- 1 copy of your spouse/parent’s passport
- Proof of your spouse/parent’s situation in France (university admission letter, work permit, internship agreement…)

Documents regarding your professional and economic situation in Hong Kong or Macau:
- 1 copy of your latest 3 salary slips
- original letter from your employer confirming the intended leave of absence or gap year or resignation letter
- if you are retired : copies of financial resources (pension, ...)
- any other proof of your current situation

- 1 copy of your bank statements for the last 6 months
- 1 copy of any proof of steady financial resources (rents, investments… )
- 1 copy of your accommodation in France : property title, rental agreement, housing by a private person (letter from the host + copy of their ID + their property title or rental agreement), hotel booking for at least 3 months with proof of a paid deposit
- 1 copy of a medical insurance valid for the whole stay together with the details of the coverage (medical expenses, coverage for at least 30 000 EUR, hospitalization and repatriation)
- 1 sworn affidavit, dated and signed, not to work in France
- 1 copy of a return airline ticket or confirmed booking

IMPORTANT : According to the circumstances, a clear criminal record may be required. A nominative letter addressed to the Hong Kong Police Force will be given by the Consulate during the visa interview (application procedures to obtain the certificate of no criminal conviction). It takes 4 to 6 weeks to receive the criminal record. The application will be processed upon its reception.
