Thierry MARIANI, Minister of State for Transport visited Hong Kong on 16th March 2012
Thierry Mariani, Minister of State for Transport, paid a visit to Hong Kong on 16th March 2012. Together with a delegation of directors of ports and ship owners, he had the opportunity to meet different key players in the field of maritime transport in Hong Kong, in order to help promoting the image and the competiveness of the French ports.
During his visit, Mr. Mariani and his delegation visited the container ports in Hong Kong and met with the professionals in the field.
The Minister then attended the unveiling ceremony of the new electric car of Renault. HKSAR Secretary for the Environment Mr. Edward Yau and Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy were also present to witness the recent purchase of 30 electric cars "Fluence ZE" by the HK government.

A luncheon with the representatives of the French and HK companies in maritime transport and logistics was held, during which the Minister and the representatives of French ports introduced the port reform carried out almost a year ago in France. Then the Minister met his counterpart Ms. Eva Cheng, HKSAR Secretary for Transport and Housing.
Mr. Mariani also met the French and HK press, so that it could promote the know-how and excellence of the French ports. At the same time, he explained the opportunities of the current co-operations with the companies in HK.
Then he visited the construction site of a French enterprise Dragages for the MTR extension to Sheung Wan.
In the evening, Mr. Mariani attended the cocktail reception on the French navy ship Vendémiaire, which marked the end of his trip in HK.
