The Research Grants Council (RGC) of the Hong Kong University Grants Committee (UGC) is committed to promoting world-class research by launching its 9th Round of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, for the 2018/2019 academic year.
Established by the RGC in 2009, the Scheme aims to attract top international students to pursue PhD studies in one of the eight Hong Kong’s world-class research universities (City University of Hong Kong; Hong Kong Baptist University; Lingnan University; The Chinese University of Hong Kong; The Education University of Hong Kong; The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; The University of Hong Kong). The prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme has brought about 1500 top students to undertake PhD studies in fields ranging from engineering, medical, physical sciences to business, social sciences, etc.
The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$20,000 (approx. €2150), and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$10,000 (approx. €1075) per year for a period of three years.
More than 230 fellowships will be awarded for PhD studies commencing in the 2018/2019 academic year. The deadline for initial application is fixed to 1 December 2017.
