The Ensemble Intercontemporain in Hong Kong on 23 october [fr]
Founded in 1976 by Pierre Boulez, the late composer and contributor to contemporary music, Ensemble intercontemporain is one of the world’s most revered ensembles specialising in music of our time and is the first permanent ensemble of its type in the world.
In a long-due Hong Kong début, Ensemble intercontemporain is performing Schoenberg’s revolutionary Chamber Symphony No. 1, which also serves as an inspiration of Ligeti’s densely constructed Chamber Concerto. Donatoni’s Tema, one of the ensemble’s favourite, is a powerfully organic work of fragments and their continuity. Also on the programme is newer works, Les Danses interrompues by Mantovani and Whirling Tissue of Light by Music Director and Conductor Pintscher.
