Prof. Pierre Cassou-Noguès, presents his new book ‘’Melody of tick-tock and other reasons to waste ones time’’ in Paranthèses on 19th May 2016.
Prof. Cassou-Noguès, professor at the University Paris 8-Vincennes, will be presenting his book ‘’Melody of tick-tock and other reasons to waste ones’ time’’ at French bookshop ‘’Paranthèses’’ on the 19th of May.
Professor Pierre Cassou-Noguès, alumni of the prestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure, agrégé de Mathématiques , is a professor of philosophy at the University Paris 8 and the co-editor of the journal ‘’SubStance’’ on theory and literary criticism.
Prof Cassou-Noguès’ work focuses on the relationship between the imaginary world and the reason. As part of his work, he has studied the archives of several scholars (Kurt Gödel, Emil Post, Norbert Wiener) and has investigated several aspects of neurosciences to show the link between the two worlds. He has also examined a number of literary and artistic works to show the numerous ways in which an extra-scientific relationship is developed between the imaginary world and reason.
During the evening, he will present , as a philosopher, University professor and writer, several of his books :‘’My zombie and me’’ (Seuil, 2010), Reading the Brain (Seuil, 2011), and notably his latest book ‘’The melody of tick-tock and other good reasons to waste ones time’’. He will also discuss several of his writings that touch on philosophy, literature and the sciences.
