The story behind the photos tells of an extraordinary expedition which idea, goal and plan were to travel back in times with a camel caravan in search of ancient civilizations, empires and cultures while trying to discover anthropomorphic statues, tumuli, tombs, megaliths, steles, deer stones, petroglyphs and other remains dating back millenniums. An adventure on land in the dead of winter and an ascent of eras of 20 millennia from the contemporary to the Paleolithic ages.

Marc Progin takes us out of time into a realm of space, light and liberty as well as on a
wintry and cosmic migration through the ages of Mongolia history. As much on earth as in times past, it is a spatial exploration of an open-air museum of human and natural history that nowadays only visit, its climate being so harsh, bad weather, wolves and birds of prey, as well as Mongol clans living there as nomads, migrating freely from the present to the past, slowly drifting with the progress of their caravans.
Marc’s collection tops 20,000 images, compiled since 1999 as he travelled thousands of kilometres on bicycle, foot and aboard camel caravans. Some 30 exclusive photographs involving stunning landscapes, caravans, nomadic portrait and night scenery with material representations of other worlds will be on display.

Marc Progin, 71, a HK permanent resident for 40 years, is a Swiss watchmaker retired from time, and a specialist of Mongolia. With "Vastness, Magnificence and Simplicity" at the FCC in 2006, "Nomads, Caravans and Migrations" at the Latitude 22n gallery in 2013, he introduced with his photos and conferences the natural world of Mongolia to Hong Kong.

Marc now devotes his time to four passions: very long-distance running, adventure
travelling, writing poetry and photography. Marc dubs all of his favourite pastimes forms of “Mind Travelling”. More on www.progin.com
