Opening of Le French May cinema programme (May 8-31) : meet the young directors! [fr]
Damien and Pierre, two high school students, murder an unknown woman previously spotted on the street.
This debut film is an elegant thriller starring Martin Loizillon (Best Actor at the Mumbai Film Festival), Pierre Moure and Julie-Marie Parmentier. The soundtrack is performed by the French singer Camille.
The program will also be marked by the presence of two directors who will present their debut films:
Fabianny Deschamps will attend the two screenings of New Territories 《一國兩祭》 and meet the audience on May 10 at 1:15pm (Palace IFC) and May 15 at 7:40pm (Broadway Cinematheque)..
Shot in Hong Kong, the film tells the story of Eve, a French businesswoman who wants to conquer the Asian market with a new funeral rite and Li Yu, a Chinese textile worker, preparing herself to reach Hong Kong clandestinely in search for a better life.
Lucie Borleteau will close the festival on May 31 with two screenings of Fidelio : Alice’s Journey 《愛麗絲的情海 》.
Thirty-year-old Alice (Ariane Labed) is a sailor. She leaves Félix (Anders Danielsen Lie), her man, on terra firma, and embarks as a mechanic on an old cargo ship, Fidelio. Once on board, she discovers that she is replacing a man who has just died and that Gaël (Melvil Poupaud), the first great love of her life, is the ship’s captain.
