On April 29th 2012, Stradivaria will rise in Macau at St Joseph Church
For its second Chinese tour, Stradivaria, a string ensemble from Nantes will be playing in Macau.
Stradivaria presents one of the most famous baroque vocal repertoire works: Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi (1726), and an exclusive Chinese ancient music piece.
Driven by the desire to revive the music of the greatest Baroque composers, Daniel Cuiller created Stradivaria in 1987. Before this, he had already achieved great success, enjoying a first-rate reputation at both national and international level.
Stradivaria is principally a string ensemble, but its size changes according to the works being performed. All of its players are hand-picked by Cuiller, based on their particular skills and their performance on period instruments.
For this second Chinese tour, Stradivaria’s players are driven by the same desire as their conductor: to collaborate with the talented Chinese soprano singer, Zhang Zhang, and present to the public exclusive Chinese and European ancient music.
The program pays special tribute to Teodirico Pedrini legacy, the private musical tutor at the Chinese emperor court from 1711 to 1746.
