Music for all : Make Music Hong Kong comes back for its 3rd edition! [fr]

Inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique inaugurated in 1982 and to celebrate the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, Make Music, Hong Kong! welcomed its third edition in 2020. This year, the annual celebration of music went online on 20-21 June (Sat & Sun) through its brand new website of “Make Music Hong Kong!”, accessible for free !

Building on our previous successes in historical landmarks such as Tai Kwun and Fringe Club, “Make Music Hong Kong!” 2020 will take place online via its brand new official website the contents are accessible for free. We won’t be able to gather and clap hands together, but you will be able to enjoy live music from anywhere and at any time!

To continue the spirit of “music for all”, the event is open to both amateurs and professional performers with several stages, workshops, screenings and roundtables.During two full days, on 20-21 June, this virtual celebration of music will offer live streaming concerts from four local bands streamed at Wow and Flutter studio, and pre-recorded concerts 10 European bands. You will also have access to music related resources including video conference with the theme “Hong Kong Canto Pop: Legacy and identity of HK Popular Music”, moderated by Stephan Y.W. Chu and Chow Yiu Fai, organized by The French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC) . A series of 4 Interviews with the 4 Hong Kong bands, local music influencer Dr. Wong Chi Chung and founder of Wow and flutter Mr. Hong Ka Chun.

First created in 2018 by Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and Alliance Française de Hong Kong, the festival is funded by the European Union Office in Hong Kong and Macao, and this year with the participation of the Consulate Generals of Austria, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
