Launch of Euro-China Women Film Festival in Hong Kong! [fr]

Emerging French filmmakers revealed in Cannes are featured on 21st and 22nd June. This new initiative aims at supporting female film industry professionals in both China and Europe. The festival will take place from 21st to 26th June at The Grand Cinema at Kowloon in Hong Kong.

The 1st edition of the festival is organised by Euro China Film Club, Movie View International and coorganised by Mar Vivo Films with the support of the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and of Institut Français.

Kiss and Cry

Synopsis: Sarah, at 15 years of age, returns to figure skating at the Colmar club without knowing whether she is doing it for herself or for her mother. She is confronted with the violence of high level competition, rivalry between the girls, and the harsh words of the trainer. While her body is put through its paces by the ice, her adolescent desires turn her attention away from her sporting ambitions.

Raging Rose

Synopsis : Jozef, a Polish man in his fifties, arrives in France not only to work in construction, but also to find his son Roman whom he had abandoned fifteen years earlier. His boss’s daughter, Rose, a teenager in the tumult of sexual awakening, offers to help him in his search. She ends up falling desperately in love with Roman, their encounter having an unexpected impact on both their teenage lives.

Women are under-represented in the entertainment industry, still, there is a number of female film professionals fight against the obstacles and have accomplished brilliant achievements in the film industry. In this forum, we will focus on discussing what the obstacles are, how female directors make their voice heard through film-making and to what extent they create opportunities for themselves in the industry.

Ms. Eliasoph is a film industry veteran and the President and CEO of perfect Village Entertainment. She leads the company in its business of producing and distributing films such as Journey to the West, Say Yes!, Mountain Cry, Reborn, Shadow etc.
