Jean-Luc Rey, Chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes Académiques
On May 12 2012, in the presence of Prof. Albert S. C. Chan, President and Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong Baptist University and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Gilles Bonnevialle, Consul for Culture, decorated Mr Jean-Luc Rey with Chevalier dans l’ordre des Palmes Académiques, Mr Rey is the French teacher at the Language Centre of the Hong Kong Baptist University and president of the AFLE, Association Français Langue Etrangère de Hong Kong et Macao.
Apart from the fact that Mr Rey has an experience of French teaching for more than 30 years, his merit comes also from the dedication he has been applying to the promotion of the French language through the professional association called AFLE, the Association of Teachers of French in Hong Kong and Macau. Under his presidency, and often from his own initiative, majors events were created and major developpments occurred, such as the Speech competition for university students Concours Oratoire Interuniversitaire du Delta de la Rivière des Perles and many other events like the Dictée de l’AFLE.
Mr. Rey has also been performing a great job with the local educational authorities, namely with Education Bureau. He has constantly defended the cause of French language at the primary and secondary level schools, fighting for the preservation of our language within the curricula.
