Hong Kong : Press Briefing by EU Spokesperson (6 January 2021) [fr]
During a press briefing in Brussels, EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Peter Stano said:
The coordinated arrest of over 50 pro-democracy activists on accusations of subversion under to the National Security Law sends a signal that political pluralism is no longer tolerated in Hong Kong.
The National Security Law is being deployed in order to crush dissent and stifle the exercise of human rights and political freedoms that are protected under Hong Kong law and international law.
The EU calls for the immediate release of those arrested.
