French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet plays Gerswhin for the HK Phil [fr]
French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will be playing Gershwin at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall on 15 - 16 December 2017, by the invitation of the HK Phil.
For more than 30 years, the French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet has performed around the world and has recorded for more than 50 albums, with the reputation of being one of the best pianists of his time. In December, he will perform in Hong Kong for two consecutive nights at the Hong Kong City Hall, with a classic Gershwin melody and a Chen Qigang concerto (Hong Kong premiere) that blend traditional Chinese music with Western instruments.
Thibaudet plays a range of solo, chamber and orchestral repertoire—from Beethoven through to contemporary composers Qigang Chen and James MacMillan. From the very start of his career, he delighted in music beyond the standard repertoire—from jazz to opera—which he transcribed himself. His profound professional friendships criss-cross the globe and have led to spontaneous and fruitful collaborations in film, fashion and visual art.
