Jazz, theatre, classical music… You can hear French everywhere at the Hong Kong Arts Festival 2018 from 23 Feb to 24 March!
“The finest jazz singer to emerge in the last decade” (The New York Times). At the age of 28, Cécile McLorin Salvant has just obtained her second Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album at the beginning of 2018, after her first win two years ago. With a distinctive voice that turns timeless jazz standards and forgotten gems into compelling personal statements, the successful French-American virtuoso is considered to extend the lineage of the America’s big three female jazz vocalists. Her Hong Kong debut with the Aaron Diehl Trio – not to be missed!

“Ce spectacle est comme l’ultime geste, d’une pureté et d’une densité souveraines, d’un maître qui élève son art à son essence la plus radical” (Le Monde). Through the feverish final writings of the Austrian poet Georg Trakl, this last work of the 94-year-old French theatre master Claude Régy guides us slowly towards the confines of silence and darkness, where love awakens guilt, consciousness touches the abyss, and words succumb to the unspeakable. Flawlessly performed by Yann Boudaud, it conjures a very special atmosphere, its language incandescent, feverish and dense, its long silences exquisitely eloquent. Be prepared for a sensorial voyage to the limits of art and madness.
