« French Friday: Annecy» features the best of contemporary animated film! [fr]

The associated programme “French Friday: Annecy” of Le French May brings you for the first time in Hong Kong a fine selection of awarded animated French films. All screenings were awarded at Annecy International Animation Film Festival and will take place at The Metroplex at Kownloon Bay (KITEC).

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival traverses the world far and wide with its "Best of Annecy 2017" program combining a selection of prize-winning shorts from the latest festival with tailor-made opening sequences by the students of French school Gobelins, one of the most prestigious schools of animation throughout the world.

Targeted to a public of over 12 years, there are 6 films (The Ogre, The Blissful Accidental Death, Negative Space, Grandpa Walrus, Wicked Girl and The Burden) plus 3 films featuring Chinese elements (The White Snake, La Sieste and Wu Qi Dao). The programmes lasts for 75 minutes and offers a cross section of the graphic styles and stories found in the competition of the Annecy festival.

Synopsis : Zucchini is not at all like a vegetable. His is a brave little boy. He believes that he’s alone in the world when his mother dies. But he didn’t count on the people he’ll meet in his new life in a home for children. Simon, Ahmed, Jujube, Alice, and Beatrice: they all have their stories to tell, and each story is as sad as it is tender. And then there’s this girl, Camille.
When you’re ten years old, having a gang of pals, falling in love... there are things to discover and learn. And you may even be happy.

This adaptation from the novel “Autobiography of a zucchini” by Gilles Paris has been acclaimed worldwide. The film was selected in 28 international film festivals. Awards include Best Animated Film, César du Cinéma Français 2016 and Best film for Young Audience, Berlin International Film Festival 2016.
