French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC)
The French Centre for Research on Contemporary China (CEFC) was founded in 1991 as a publicly financed research institute, based in Hong Kong; our offices in Taipei were opened in 1994.
The CEFC was founded by Michel Bonnin, who became its first director (1991-1998). Sebastian Veg is currently the director.
The CEFC’s mission is to study political, economic and social developments in the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao.
The CEFC has three researchers and research fellows.
The CEFC is helped in its work by an advisory council made up of academics and researchers, which meets each year in Paris.
Besides organizing seminars and international conferences, the CEFC publishes China Perspectives (sister publication of the French-language Perspectives chinoises), a quarterly entirely dedicated to the study of the contemporary China.
