“Food, Risks and Sustainability: An Asian Perspective” (6 – 7 July 2015 at Poly U) [fr]

The Department of Applied Social Sciences (APSS) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University will held an international seminar promoting “Food, Risks and Sustainability” on 6 – 7 July 2015.

This seminar aims to analyze the risks generated by the food system, the way these risks are perceived by consumers and how they are currently tackled by different types of actors (including government bodies, private actors and consumers).
As such, it encompasses not just the issue of food safety, but also the notions of risks and sustainability.


Through theoretical and case studies, this seminar gathers specialists from France, Canada, China, Japan, Malaysia and the United States and shows that food safety is not just a technical issue, but it also incorporates social, economic and legal aspects. Four specific perspectives will be explored.
They are: 1) International Perspectives. 2) The Organization of Food Markets. 3) Sustainability and Agriculture. 4) Judgments and Perception.

Thanks to the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, 4 French experts will be present and give a talk at the event : Prof. Jean Pierre POULAIN and Prof. Vincent SIMOULIN from The University of Toulouse and Prof. Hélène ILBERT from the “Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen” of Montpellier and Dr. Fatima ELHADAD from The “Ecole Supérieure d’Agronomie” of Montpellier.

The event is free but registration is needed.
