€360 million : This is the amount France is contributing to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in2014, 2015 and 2016.
France has pledged €1.08 billion over the next three years.
From the outset, France has strongly supported research on AIDS and access to treatment for patients from poor countries.It has paid more than €2.5 billion to the Global Fund since it was set up in 2002, to finance AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria prevention and treatment programmes in developing countries.
As such it is the second-largest contributor in the world and the leading European donor, and it has helped supply AIDS treatments to 4.2 million people and anti-tuberculosis treatments to 9.7 million people, and helped distribute over 310 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets to fight malaria.
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and UNITAID, the international drug purchase facility, were created on its initiative.
