Prof. Rostane Mehdi, Director of the Institute of Political Studies of Aix-en-Provence visits several universities in Hong Kong at the end of December 2016.
The Institut d’études politiques d’Aix-en-Provence (English: Aix-en-Provence Institute of Political Studies), simply referred to as Sciences Po Aix is a grande école in Aix-en-Provence, France.
This prestigious and highly selective institute is modelled on the former Paris "École Libre des Sciences Politiques" (ELSP). Like the other Instituts d’Etudes Politiques in France (Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Paris, Rennes, Strasbourg and Toulouse), Sciences Po Aix is a member of the "Grandes Écoles" group of higher education schools of academic excellence. As a grande école, its admissions process is selective. Sciences Po Aix specializes in political sciences. It also offers courses in economics, history, law, international relations, and business. It is associated with Aix-Marseille University and is part of a network of ten Institut d’études politiques, known as IEP.
The IEP provides students a five-year curriculum with a general training in law, economics, general knowledge and history. Its students are selected through a competitive entrance examination. The school’s mission is to train high-level managers and executives to serve the public service and the private sector. The IEP of Aix offers 9 specialties: Public Careers, International Expertise, Comparative Political Expertise, Comparative Military History, Geostrategy, Defense and Security, Information Trades: Communication, Lobbying, Media; Globalization and strategy of public decision-making, European policies, Euro-Mediterranean public policies, Religion and society. Some of its students have become company directors or government officials. Many students move on to careers in journalism, finance, diplomacy or communications.
The school is already open to the international community thanks to its double diploma with the University of Freiburg in Germany and its numerous courses in English, and receives more than 200 foreign students each year and also sends for two semesters, Students in foreign institutions. It is with a view to expanding its partners that Prof. Mehdi traveled to Hong Kong where he met the universities of HKU, CityU, HKBU and CUHK.

He also met with alumni of Sciences Po Aix as well as the Center for French Studies on Contemporary China (CEFC), UMIFRE No. 18 (Mixed Unit - Ministry of Foreign Affairs / National Center for Scientific Research - Institut Français de Searching Abroad).
