Debussy & Friends, Piano Recital by François Chaplin on Saturday 28th 2012

Taking the opportunity at Le French May, François Chaplin celebrates the 150th anniversary of Claude Debussy (1862-1918) with a new combination of works for two pianos to pay tribute to the master of impressionist music, by giving a recital of Debussy’s rarest pieces and the works by the composers who have influenced the work of Debussy such as Mozart, Chopin and Fauré.

François Chaplin is one of the most original and passionate of all the French pianists. His sumptuous sound, great expressiveness and feeling, musical intelligence and sense as an artist, enable him to understand and bring out the personality of Mozart, dark moods of Brahms and playfulness of Schumann as well as brightness of Debussy. His recording of the complete works for piano in 2007 has been unanimously acclaimed by critics in France and abroad, marking a record in the whole world.
