Business Partnership Statement of Intent signed Between UBIFRANCE and HKTDC [fr]
UBIFRANCE (The French Agency for International Business development) and Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) have signed a partnership agreement to formalize and strengthen the collaboration between the two public bodies in charge of promoting technologies, products, services and know-how from their respective countries.
The signing ceremony was held in Paris, Thursday, December12, in the presence of Mr. Christophe LECOURTIER, Managing Director of UBIFRANCE, and Mr. Fred LAM , Executive Director of HKTDC.
This agreement is intended to strengthen an established long-term cooperation between the two organizations, especially through the development of an annual program of joint actions which focus on sectorial priorities. This roadmap is intended to foster collaboration between the French and Hong Kong companies from high potential sectors such as food and consumer products, as well as green technology, creative industries, licensing and franchising services or even acquisition of brands, lifestyle products and trademarks. The first joint operation in this context, will take place on March 18, 2014, with a dozen French companies in the sector of smart cards and digital economy attending the 9th plenary meeting of Hong Kong - France Business Partnership (http://info.hktdc.com/hk-fr).
The signing of this agreement comes within a context of historical dynamism of our bilateral trade. In 2013, French exports totalized a record amount of HK$ 60 billion, three times more than 3 years ago, and the French trade balance shows a surplus of HK$ 54 billion with Hong Kong.
Furthermore, the French business community is booming, with about 800 companies operating in Hong Kong, employing over 30,000 people and generating € 11billion turnover.
