Associated with the sophisticated and trendsetting image of French fashion, 10 French spectacles manufacturing firms will be exhibiting at Asia’s major trade fair in the optical industry, Hong Kong Optical Fair in Grand HALL 3B at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 8 to 10 November 2017.
The French Pavilion organised by Business France showcases French high-end offers – a guarantee of traditional know-how that are always at the leading edge of creativity and innovation.
Fashion accessories enjoy an important place in world trade as the optical market in France represents a turnover of 6.7 billion euros. As the world’s 3rd biggest exporter, France exports 622 million euros worth of glasses frames each year. With a pool of 10,500 direct jobs, the sector works for more than 1,300 brands.
The optical sector is highly diverse, composed of mainly medium, small and very small businesses. The cradle of the profession, the Jura, is the first French region to industrialise 60% of the national production of glasses. French spectacles manufacturers position on top-of-the-range and designer niche markets, supplying to more than 70 international luxury labels and brands.
France is also the 5th biggest supplier to Hong Kong, exporting more than €12 million worth of glasses every year. The Hong Kong market concerns all segments: frames, sunglasses and reading glasses, as well as contact lenses. An important trend to note is that the children’s spectacles segment is also growing steadily.
French innovations are closely related to the permanent research of their internal design centres. As approximately 300 operations are sometimes necessary to manufacture high-technology frames, their lifespan is incomparable. The quality control policy is very rigorous so that the brand image is always associated with that of top-of-the-range products with exceptional finishing. The French offer meets the expectations of foreign importers and distributors looking for luxury products of quality.
The 10 French exhibitors at the Hong Kong Optical Fair will present their latest creations which reflect a long tradition of very efficient technologies, in particular their working with new materials. The French Pavilion at Hong Kong Optical Fair 2017 includes: (*new exhibitors)
