Bienvenue en France ! Pre-departure gathering for Hong Kong students leaving for exchange [fr]
Around thirty students from different universities in Hong Kong, as well as Vocational Training Council institutions, took part in the departure preparation evening organized by the Campus France office of the Consulate General of France on November 26, 2019. They are preparing to leave for a semester of study in France in 2020, in different fields such as engineering, trade, language learning or design.
The objective of the session was to share the practical information which is essential to the smooth settling-down in France (where to stay, how to open a bank account, etc.), as well as some cultural notions useful for their integration. Ms. Yasmin Chafra, Head of Campus France in Hong Kong, and Mr. Jean-Baptiste Larramendy, Director of the Jordan site of the Alliance Française Hong Kong have given the presentations.
Under the patronage of the Consul General of France, Mr. Alexandre Giorgini, and the Secretary General of the University Grants Committee, a funding body of Hong Kong’s public universities, Professor James Tang, the event highlighted the importance of international exchanges for the quality of the teaching and the openness of the students.
Two former students, Mr. Ben Chan and Ms. Charlene Ho, respectively holding an MBA from INSEAD and Grenoble Ecole de Management, explained the contribution of their schooling in France in their professional career. Mr. Chan recalled that France was the world leader for MBAs, the "Financial Times" having ranked in November 2019 the Executive MBA of HEC first before Kellogg / HKUST Business School!
A friendly time of discussion between guests and students was organized at the end of the presentation around French gastronomic specialties. These information sessions for Hong Kong students leaving for France have been held twice a year since 2015.
Thanks to Campus France, operated in the Consulate General, we have keep advancing our long-term action in favor of academic mobility. Campus France is responsible for publicizing study opportunities in France, particularly in educational fairs.
