Bestowal of M. Walter KWOK Ping-sheung as Knight of la Legion d’Honneur
On July, 11th 2008 at the residence of France, Jean Pierre Thébault has bestowed upon Mr Walter KWOK Ping-sheung the Legion d’Honneur Knighthood. This bestowal rewards the commitment of an old friend to strengthen the links of friendship and cooperation between Hong Kong & France and between France & China.
Created by Napoleon in 1802, the Legion d’Honneur is designed to acknowledge the action done in order to promote the cooperation with France.
Former Chairman of Sun Hung Kai Properties, M. Walter Kwok Ping-sheung’s bestowal was justified by his old and continuous action in favor of France. Members since its creation of the French Asian Arts Society, he also played an important part in the cultural year of France in China in 2004. He thus contributed to the economical and cultural development of France in Hong Kong and China.
The bestowal of M. Walter KWOK Ping-sheung rewards the commitment of an old friend to strengthen the links of friendship and cooperation between Hong Kong & France and between France & China. He was already bestowed the knighthood "Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres" in 2004.
