Asian Financial Forum 2012

Around 2,000 finance, business and government leaders from around the world were taking part in the Asian Financial Forum, which opened on 16th and 17th January 2012 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.


The forum’s fifth edition was taking place under the theme “Asia: Driving Sustainable Growth,” focusing on opportunities in Asia, particularly the Chinese mainland. More than 70 prominent speakers participated in the forum, which was organised by the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).

Michel Barnier, European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services and former French Minister, also visited Hong Kong on this occasion.

During the plenary session, he was one of the keynote speakers, discussing the global economy and Asia’s role in contributing to sustainable growth.

He also threw light on the Eurozone crisis, assuring that "the euro is here to stay."
