A delegation from CentraleSupélec in Hong Kong (24-27 Mar) [fr]
In order to study the possibilities of exchanges and partnerships in Hong Kong, a delegation from CentraleSupélec was on the move, from 24 to 27 March in Hong Kong to meet with representatives from several local universities as well as French companies.
The delegation from CentraleSupélec - led by Prof. Nikos Paragios, Director of the Center for Visual Computing and Mrs. Catherine Martineau-Huynh and Prof. Jocelyn Fiorina, Vice-Deans of International Affairs and Partnerships - came to Hong Kong to assess the possibilities for future collaborations with institutions and businesses in the city.
The delegation was first received by Mrs Orianne Chenain, director of the French Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie in Hong Kong, which drew a clear picture of Hong Kong. The members of the delegation were then welcomed into the University of Hong Kong (HKU) by the deans of faculties of Science and Engineering, Prof. Sun Kwok and Prof. Norman Tien, respectively, and their teaching teams.
Within the "City University ’, they were welcomed by Prof. LU Jian, Vice-President in charge of research and technology. A fascinating tour of the "State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves" led by Prof CHAN Chi Hou was also organized.
Mr Ludovic Lang - representing the Thales Innovation Hub - received the delegation to share more fully on existing collaborations and projects future opportunities with "Hong Kong University of Science and Technology" (HKUST) before an appointment targeted afternoon in this prestigious university.
The day ended with a reception for the delegation surrounded by sixty alumni Central and Supelec, at the Residence of France by Mr Arnaud Barthelemy, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macao.
By this event, Mr Arnaud Barthelemy, highlighted the appropriate choice of Hong Kong for the first foreign trip of the school since the merger in January 2015, the two schools, Ecole Centrale Paris and Supélec. Prof. Frédéric Pascal, Professor CentraleSupélec emphasized the quality of the discussions of the week and was very optimistic about future collaborations that will result; Mr Pierre Bourgeois, representing Alumni, reaffirmed the support of alumni in CentraleSuplec approach to set up in Hong Kong, noting that representatives of the alumni were made available throughout the week to participate in the appointment Hong Kong.
To close the week, representatives of CentraleSupelec met students from the French International School in Hong Kong to present their schools and their jobs as researchers.
