The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau was invited last Thursday, 31st October 2019 to present French culture, history, gastronomy and higher education in a cultural seminar “A Day in France” at the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration of the Open University of Hong Kong.
Over 50 students took part in the seminar before enjoying “A taste of France” through a wine and cheese pairing class organised by the Chef of the French Residence and Antoine Zaruba from the Cheese House.
The second half of the evening was followed by a High Table Dinner organized by the university where the Consul General, Alexandre Giorgini, gave a speech on the “Art of Wine and Food in France” to more than 150 Year 3 and Year 4 students from the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration. During this occasion, he highlighted the cultural, social and economic importance of French gastronomy, which was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2010, both in France and abroad.
The Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration has deepened its cooperation with France over the last years. It has launched an ambitious Undergraduate Global Immersion Programme, which includes a French stream, to enhance students’ intercultural awareness and help them develop a global mindset. Field trips to Toulouse have already been organised.
