47th Hong Kong French Film Festival – Retrospective : A tribute to Film Composers [fr]
The French Film Festival is not over yet! We are coming back in January with our Retrospective focusing on the intertwinement between cinema and music. We will hold a tribute to film composers by presenting movies with acclaimed and well-known soundtracks.

Alexandre Desplat, Oscar winning music composer of Rust and Bone (De rouille et d’os) and many more (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech, The Shape of Water…) and Serge Franklin, composer of Le Grand Pardon (Day of Atonement) will be in Hong Kong as part of our retrospective, looking back and honouring film composers.
Alexandre Desplat will have a sharing session following his concert on January 4th at Hong Kong Cultural Centre. While Serge Franklin will host a post-screening Q&A session on January 19th at Hong Kong Arts Centre.
They will host master classes to present their work to the Hong Kong public.

In honour of the 47th Hong Kong French Film Festival’s special ‘Retrospective’ programme dedicated to film composers, we are happy to host a talk combining cinema and music. In this talk, we will take a look at the use of music in Hong Kong cinema and enjoy excerpts selected by the speaker, Arnaud Lanuque.
