1st French Virtual Education Fair organized in Hong Kong [fr]
The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macao presented the project of the first French virtual higher education fair in Hong Kong and Macau, "Study in France" Virtual Education Fair (20-22 November 2013), at a press conference on 25 October 2013.
This virtual event is the first education fair of its kind to showcase a wide panorama of French higher education to a diverse audience of secondary school students, university students, young professionals and academics from Hong Kong and Macau.
An interactive 3D platform built by our partner Visimmo 3D allows visitors to walk through the exhibition halls, discuss with representatives and alumni of prestigious French institutions including business schools like HEC, ESSEC, political science schools like Sciences Po, engineering schools like ENS Cachan, Institut Mines-Telecom, the INSA group, fashion schools like Institut Français de la Mode, culinary arts schools like Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Pâtisserie, etc.
Access to this platform is completely FREE via the event website (already accessible), www.studyinfrance.hk. Visitors’ free registration will start from November 20 at 7am. After the 3-day interactive event, the platform will still remain online for 2 months.
At the press conference, Mr. Arnaud Barthélémy, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, announced the launch of the website www.studyinfrance.hk and encouraged the public to visit it and get familiarized with the platform as well as the institutions which have already registered.
Mr. Barthélémy also insisted, "With many advantages over traditional expos, this virtual event represents the future of education fairs. Due to the reduced costs in particular, a better participation is allowed for both exhibitors and visitors: a wider range of French higher education institutions is presented to a larger public."
The interactive platform was then presented for journalists and partners as a premiere, revealing its innovative and user-friendly features. A visit of several booths of the virtual platform has also illustrated what the Consul General mentioned.
Our honourable guests, Professor Simon Shen Xu-Hui and Mr. TANG Shu-wing, also shared with the audience their experience in internationalization of higher education and studies in France.
A large-scale promotion campaign is going to be implemented at local secondary schools and universities, in the English and Chinese press whose readers are young people and their parents, via billboards in MTR stations and at bus shelters. Our partnership with South China Morning Post, Ming Pao and Alliance Française Hong Kong is the major vehicle of this campaign.
Mr. Barthélémy concluded the press conference by inviting journalists and partners to come to the Opening Ceremony of the virtual education fair, which will take place on 20 November 2013 at 4pm at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, with the presence of Secretary for Education of HKSAR, Mr Eddie NG, as one of the officiating guests.
